Nutrition Month 2026 – “Healthy Diet, Healthy Life: Making Smart Food Choices for a Better Life

Nutrition Month 2026 Balangkayan SHS was one of the most lively and meaningful school events of the year. On July 29, 2026, Balangkayan Senior High School – Stand Alone brought its entire community together to celebrate good health, smart food choices, and the value of proper nutrition. Under the theme “Healthy Diet, Healthy Life: Making Smart Food Choices for a Better Life,” the school ran seven exciting activities that kept every student, teacher, and visitor fully engaged from start to finish.

Furthermore, this year’s celebration was not just about food. It was about learning, creativity, teamwork, and the shared belief that a healthy community starts with healthy habits. Here is a look at everything that happened on that memorable day.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was the Boodle Fight Contest. Each section prepared a generous spread of food on long banana leaves — a true Filipino tradition of eating together as one. Moreover, the spreads were nothing short of impressive.

From grilled fish, rice, and vegetables to watermelon, eggs, and local viands, every section gave its best effort to create a spread that was both nutritious and beautiful. The students from F.C.S 12 stood out with their expertly arranged display — complete with a whole pumpkin centerpiece, fried dishes, boiled eggs, and colorful dipping sauces, all laid out with the skill and creativity of trained young chefs in their black uniforms.

Additionally, teachers and visiting officials joined the celebration by sampling dishes from each section. The long tables lined with banana leaves and food showed the true spirit of bayanihan — sharing, caring, and eating well together.

The Healthy Plate Contest challenged students to think beyond just filling a plate. Instead, they had to show that a meal can be both delicious and nutritious at the same time. Each group prepared a single plate showing a proper balance of food groups — proteins, carbohydrates, vegetables, and fruits — all arranged in a creative and appealing way.

The results were stunning. Plates featured grilled fish, purple yam, guava, mangosteen, tomatoes, leafy greens, and native fruits — all sourced locally and presented with care. As a result, the contest became a real lesson in smart food choices, straight from the hands of our very own students.

Health is not just about what you eat — it is also about how you move. The Zumba Fitness Challenge brought the whole school to its feet under the open sky, surrounded by coconut trees and fresh Balangkayan air.

Two groups of students took the floor — one in black shirts and jeans, the other in their bright blue BSHS uniforms. Together, they moved to the beat with energy, smiles, and synchronized steps that showed just how fun fitness can be. Furthermore, the outdoor setting made the activity feel alive and free — a perfect reminder that healthy living is something to enjoy, not just endure.

The Zumba challenge was more than just exercise. It was a celebration of movement, of youth, and of a community that chooses to be active and healthy together.

The Poster Making Contest gave BSHS students a canvas to express what health and nutrition mean to them. Armed with paint, markers, and creativity, students produced some truly remarkable works of art — each one carrying a powerful message about food, nature, and healthy living.

The judging criteria were clear — relevance to the theme, creativity and originality, artistic quality, visual impact, and overall presentation. Moreover, every student who stood in front of the class holding their artwork showed not just skill, but also heart.

The Slogan Making Contest asked students to say a lot with just a few words. In addition to posters, students crafted handwritten slogans on boards and displayed them for judging. The results were colorful, creative, and packed with meaning.

The slogans covered themes of nutrition, nature, health, and the future — showing that BSHS students think deeply about the world they want to live in. Furthermore, the variety of writing styles, colors, and layouts showed the unique voice of each student who took part. Short, punchy, and powerful — the best slogans from this contest deserve a wall of their own.

The Nutri-Quiz Bee tested how much BSHS students know about nutrition, health, and smart food choices. Teams from different sections competed against each other in a fast-paced battle of knowledge — answering questions about food groups, vitamins, minerals, healthy habits, and the science of good nutrition.

Moreover, the quiz bee proved that health education goes beyond the cafeteria. It lives in the classroom, in the mind, and in the choices students make every day. The winners of this contest did not just earn a prize — they earned the right to call themselves champions of healthy living.

The Essay Writing Contest gave BSHS students the chance to put their thoughts about health and nutrition into words. Participants wrote about what it means to make smart food choices, how proper nutrition affects daily life, and what young Filipinos can do to build a healthier future.

In addition, the essays showed a depth of thinking and awareness that went beyond simple school lessons. Students wrote from their own lives, their own experiences, and their own hopes for a healthier tomorrow. Therefore, the contest was not just a writing exercise — it was a meaningful reflection on health as a way of life.

From students and teachers to visiting officials and community members — everyone at Balangkayan SHS came together on July 29, 2026 to celebrate Nutrition Month with full heart and genuine joy. This is what healthy living looks like at BSHS.
